Blood for Life is an award-winning non-government organisation.  

 

Blood for Life was formed in 2010 to provide solutions in blood transfusion and offers a full range of services for the blood banks in low income countries. Blood for Life helps to ensure a safe and adequate supply of blood and blood products from voluntary non-remunerated blood donors.  

 

Blood for Life had 2 main objectives; (1) Raise awareness of the need for more black blood and organ donors in the UK and Africa (2) Support blood transfusion in low income countries through donation and maintenance of medical equipment and training.

 

Over the years, Blood for Life have worked on various projects in partnership with institutions, government agencies, and non-government organisation in Africa and the Caribbean. Blood for Life  worked closely with clients through a partnership venture to establish an effective and sustainable blood transfusion service/blood bank. Blood for Life have equipped institutions (hospitals and Medical schools) through it's equipment donation programme which was supported by NHS Blood and Transplant and other suppliers. 

 

Blood for Life have made contributions to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) 4, 5 and 6 of low-income countries, through it's educational programme and capacity building of blood services and hospital blood banks. Blood for Life have overcome the traditional barriers experienced by African & Afro-Caribbean diaspora organisations and has collaborated with various organisations within the two communities to enhance the Health & Wellbeing.  Blood for Life successfully provided opportunities for health professionals/charities and the community to exchange ideas and educate on health issues.

 

Blood for Life continue to work tirelessly to reduce health inequalities and share knowledge, skills and experience across institutions, cultures, sectors and continents.
